Office of Faculty Affairs and Development

The Office of Faculty Affairs and Development provides coordination and support for faculty affairs functions in the college, including reappointment, promotion, tenure and award of continuing status review processes for the faculty appointment systems in the college. Our office also coordinates faculty development offerings in the college, including faculty mentoring programs and leadership development.

  • Kelly Hodges, MA

    Director of Faculty Development and Mentoring Programs

    Specialist – Curriculum Development

    Kelly designs and directs the college-level mentoring and faculty development programming, new faculty orientation programming, and leadership programming for the college, across all campuses. She provides leadership for the Faculty Affairs office and for collaborative projects with Human Resources, especially those in business process automation. She provides individual consultation for those pursuing reappointment, promotion and tenure (RPT) actions and for department committees and chairpersons tasked with reviewing RPT cases. Kelly is active in the academic specialist community at MSU, serving as the Academic Specialist Advisory Committee (ASAC) Faculty Senate representative in 2023-24. Prior to joining the college, Kelly was on the faculty in the College of Education at MSU, where she was the Associate Director for Teacher Preparation and later the Director of Educator Certification, Accreditation and Experiential Education.  Kelly has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Michigan State University with teacher certification and a master’s degree in mathematics education from Western Michigan University and was a mathematics teacher and mentor for preservice teacher candidates before coming to MSU.

    Staci provides support in faculty affairs and human resources for the College of Human Medicine. Staci coordinates the college’s reappointment, promotion, and tenure (RPT) process, hosting department trainings and providing individual assistance with department RPT personnel as needed. She orchestrates the collection of faculty annual reviews and administers executive level annual reviews across all departments in the college. Staci has streamlined procedures for the college offer letter process and executive level searches and serves as support for several committees throughout the college. Working as a student employee at Michigan State University while earning her bachelor’s degree in anthropology, Staci graduated from MSU in 2012. She then began her career in the hospitality industry, earning several graduate certificates from MSU in the hospitality business field before finding her way back to MSU. When not working, Staci enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and watching MSU basketball.

    Faculty Affairs and Development Office Assistant

    Brittany is the Office Assistant for Faculty Affairs and Development in the College of Human Medicine. She was employed by MSU in 2012 as a student and graduated in 2016 with a degree in Psychology. Since joining MSU, she has worked in numerous departments and areas including Development, Education, and Finance. Her primary responsibilities are aiding in the RPT process, event preparation, and administrative tasks such as scheduling and travel to help support the unit. Outside of work, Brittany enjoys spending time with her friends and family, MSU and Detroit sports, and reading.

    John provides on-call support to the Faculty Affairs team in technology areas, including business process automation maintenance, web maintenance, and related topics. He has more than 40 years experience in applying technology in medical education.
