Clinical/Adjunct "Non-Prefix" Faculty
Faculty in the Clinical/Adjunct appointment system with a "non-prefix" rank (e.g., Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor) are deeply involved in the college and meet specific eligibility criteria.
PREPARING FOR REVIEW
Departments apply rigorous standards to reviews based on objective and relevant criteria provided to all faculty. Criteria encompass Department, CHM and MSU criteria. These criteria should be provided to all faculty members at time of appointment and promotion. Departments are responsible for initiating Reappointment and Promotion process and providing guidance as to process, procedures and deadline dates to their faculty.
Faculty are also responsible to familiarize themselves with their department timelines, procedures and criteria prior to submitting a request for promotion and/or completing the required forms and other documentation required by the College/University.
The Office of Faculty Affairs and Development (FAD) distributes reappointment forms to departments in November/December each year. After appropriate department review, Department Chairperson/Director forwards required college forms to FAD.
Following College level review each recommendation for reappointment is forwarded to the Dean.
A departmental peer review committee generally provides advice to the Chairperson/Director regarding promotion decisions. Faculty are given an opportunity to confer with the department peer review group before a decision is made.
Department Chairperson/Director conducts an independent evaluation, taking into consideration peer evaluation, and forwards a recommendation to FAD for College RPT Committee review.
The College RPT Committee provides advice to the Dean about department/unit recommendations for promotion. The Dean independently reviews each recommendation for promotion and forwards recommendations to the Provost.
Departmental submission of reappointment and promotion forms to CHM Faculty Affairs and Development by the first working day in January.
Faculty Candidate completes and submits to Department

4. Academic Portfolio
Department/Chair completes and submits to College
5. Chair Completes NP Form D, Sections I–III
